New Easter-Themed Sets

Thursday, March 1st, 2012

LEGO have given us two brand new seasonal sets in time for Easter!

These new themed sets are polybagged and are adorable!

The first of the two is the Duck with Ducklings, which features a white mother duck and her tiny ducklings, three of which are yellow, the other is beige (this is me just speculating, but a possible reference to the ugly duckling?).

The second of the two sets is the Bunny and Chick, which allows you to build a small yellow chick hatching out of a LEGO egg and a little white bunny in a pen.

Both of these sets will make the perfect Easter gifts for fans of LEGO of all ages!

LEGO Minecraft Micro World

Friday, February 24th, 2012

The fantastically popular Minecraft is to take the form of LEGO this Summer, fans will be please to know!

The set, Minecraft Micro World features two “Micro Mobs”, Steve and Creeper. The story behind the set is that Steve lands on a strange world and have to mine for resources in order to survive. He must avoid the Creeper at all costs.

You can build mines, hills, rivers and all sorts of resources, as creation is key in this set. Minecraft Micro World is supposed to be “designed to celebrate the essence of the LEGO concept and the Minecraft gaming experience”. Basically, anything is possible. Creation is key in both Minecraft and LEGO, and the builder can build his or her creation in any way he/she desires.

You get four vignettes that can be all connected together and the surface of the modules can be removed to reveal hidden resources beneath.

Fans of the hugely successful Minecraft game and LEGO alike will love this one, so watch out for it’s release later this year.

Forest Police Station

Thursday, February 23rd, 2012

There have been various sets released to the LEGO City theme recently. The one that I think really stands out is the Forest Police Station.

This spectacular building is wonderfully detailed and includes features like a watch tower, a satellite dish on top of the main building and a safe for those minifigures to store any belongings safely. Also included is a helicopter, which is perfect for finding those pesky robbers on their quad bike and a police van to capture them.

Five minifigures are in this set: two forest policemen, two robbers and a pilot for the helicopter. Also there is a bear animal figure included.

This set would make a wonderful forest-themed addition to any LEGO City collection.

Lord of the Rings to Take LEGO Form

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012

Fans of Lord of the Rings will be pleased to know that as of June this year, LEGO are releasing a brand new theme based around the Tolkien classic. This theme is believed to be released in two waves. The first is expected in June, the second is presumed to be released in conjunction with the upcoming movie,  The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

So far there have been seven confirmed sets based around scenes from The Lord of the Rings trilogy, including Shelob Attacks, Attack on Weathertop and The Mines of Moria.

From what I have seen of this latest theme, the sets look incredibly detailed and the minifigures look great, especially Gandalf, and of course, the fearsome cave troll from The Mines of Moria.

Look out for these sets later this year as they are certainly not to be missed. Watch this space…

Is it a Bird? Is it a Plane?…

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

….No, it’s the brand new Super Heroes theme from LEGO!

This theme includes many heroes and villains from DC comics, so this theme would be ideal for a DC Universe fan. Batman, Superman, The Joker and Green Lantern are all featured in the new sets.

There are currently nine sets in the Super Heroes theme, with others potentially in the pipeline for future release.

The set that really stands out to me is The Batcave. This set features plenty of detail, including computer screens, flick-fire missiles and lots of accessories needed for Batman to catch Poison Ivy and Bane. Handcuffs, binoculars and of course, Batarangs are all necessary for capture.

Other sets included in the Super Heroes theme are Batman, The Joker and The Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape.
