Friday, September 2nd, 2011

A nice portion of the MMO, LEGO Universe has been made free to play!

Unfortunately the full game is only available through subscription (£7.49 per month), but players will be able to get a nice chunk of the action through the Free to Play mode.

In the free version, you will obtain access to two adventure zones, a property area to build your creations on, and there are also mini-games to be played.

To get a piece of the action, you can download the Free to Play version from the LEGO website by clicking here.

LEGO Universe Now in Founder Stage of Testing

Monday, October 18th, 2010

LEGO Universe has now reached the Founder stage of testing, meaning those that pre-ordered the game now have the chance to play early before the official release!

Closed beta-testing has now finished, meaning those who signed up late on sadly won’t get a chance to try it out yet and will have to wait a little longer.

As with most MMORPGs, there will be a subscription fee. This can be found on the LEGO Universe website. Just scroll down to the part that says “How much will LEGO Universe cost?”.

LEGO Universe Update

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

LEGO Universe Front Cover

Well we’re all waiting for it, the release of the new Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG), LEGO Universe!

No it’s not out yet, but now the official date of release is set for 26th October 2010. Whether this date will change, as it has done previously (I assume for technical issues of some kind), I’m not sure, but that’s the date that has been given so far.

Initially the game will be available in English and German and is currently in the Closed BETA stage of testing. Pre-ordering entitles the player to early access to the game from 12th October 2010, a 30-day subscription and a code to allow you to play as an astronaut.

Currently you can pre-order LEGO Universe on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk

LEGO Universe Available for Pre-order

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

LEGO UniverseThe upcoming MMO, LEGO Universe is now available for pre-order on the LEGO website.

From what I’ve experienced on the BETA test, this game is set to be a hit! With plenty of opportunity for creation, players can build custom items such as pets, rockets and racing cars. The possibilities are endless!

Players can build, quest and socialise with each other, creating an entirely new online world. Using your custom design minifigure, you can help the minifigs defeat the Maelstrom (the dark menace attempting to destroy imagination).

LEGO Universe will require an internet connection and the first 30 days will be free. The game has no official release date as of yet, but should be available later this year.

LEGO Universe – Closed BETA testing

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

LEGO UniverseWhen I opened my inbox and found I had been accepted for the open BETA testing of LEGO Universe, I was very excited indeed! So when the time came round to 17:00 GMT I rapidly signed on with my LEGO ID to give it a go!

The game is looking very nice but takes a powerful graphics card to run it. My laptop just about handles it, but literally only just. The features in the game are amazing, for example the  and graphically it is looking very nice, bearing in mind this is a BETA version.

When you start off, your name only shows up as “minifig” followed by a 10 digit number. This is because it needs to be moderated first to ensure that it is safe for younger players to view.

From playing the closed BETA of LEGO Universe, I can say that this game is looking pretty amazing indeed. But remember, you will need a decent graphics card to run it.

LEGO Universe: The Latest Screenshots

Friday, February 12th, 2010

LEGO UniverseRecently LEGO have released a variety of new screenshots of the upcoming game title, LEGO Universe. Everytime I see this game it looks better and better!

The graphics on this game are looking absolutely amazing. I honestly cannot wait until the release date to get myself a copy. From the screenshots provided by LEGO, this game looks like it has a lot to offer.

As I have mentioned in previous posts, LEGO Universe focuses on building and creating. You are able to build your own creations which will appear in game and create an ever-changing world. The ultimate aim of the game is to defeat the evil Maelstrom.

There is still as yet, no confirmed release date, but LEGO Universe is believed to be available sometime in the latter half of 2010. The latest screenshots can be found here.

The Great Minifig Mission

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

LEGO UniverseThis is a new activity you are able to take part in on the LEGO Universe website. You must use your LEGO ID to sign in, or create one here.

Basically you go through a series of missions to help send minifigs into LEGO Universe to take on the power of the Maelstrom. The more data that is deciphered, the more mission are added for you to take part in.

This set of mission can be found on the LEGO Universe website. Good luck!

This video shows some of the latest gameplay footage for LEGO Universe. It shows some of the features you will experience in-game, such as “Quick Build”. It also shows how creations built by other people will be seen in the environment, making the universe ever changing with endless possibilities.

So let’s have a look at the plot line of the game. LEGO Universe is set in an alternate universe populated by minifigs. But a dark power called the Maelstrom seek to destroy their World of imagination (and what would a World be without imagination!). Plans are made by the minifigs to push back the power of the Maelstrom to restore harmony to the Universe. In order to do this, players must join together to help rid LEGO Universe of the evil power of the Maelstrom.

It has been confirmed that the game will run on a monthly subscription fee, like many other MMOs, but the price of the fee is not yet known. I presume it will be similar to other games of the same genre.

Here we have another trailer for the upcoming MMOG, LEGO Universe!

As I have already mentioned, LEGO Universe is a game focused on building, creating, and playing the game using your creations. You create your own minifigure from the variety of heads, torsos and legs in the minifig creator at the very beginning of the game. However as the game progresses, you’ll be able to customise your minifig’s appearance and abilities even further by picking up cool accessories through collecting, building, earning or trading with other players.

Players also have the ability to customise the very worlds of LEGO Universe. You will be able to build in LEGO worlds of the past, present and future. Since players from all over the world will be enhancing and changing the world 24 hours a day, there will always be something new to see!

LEGO Universe – Screenshots of the upcoming game!

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

lu2We are all eagerly awaiting the release of the upcoming game, LEGO Universe. Today we see some of the first actual graphics we are to expect in the latter half of 2010 (estimated release).

You start the game by customising your minifig. To create your minifig, you click on the body part you want to change (face, body, legs) and scroll through the different options that are given. You can also click the “randomise” button for a completely random minifig. You can also collect accessories throughout the game.

Then you play. And you’ll probably be playing for hours (I know I will!). LEGO Universe graphically looks amazing, and has added LEGO charm with plenty of building and customization options. I am very much looking forward to the release date.

The latest screenshots can be found here.
