Take a look at this fantastic LEGO model of a warship.

The 22ft model was built by an artist named Ed Diment. From the age of three he has been building LEGO models, and his latest masterpiece is a 22ft model of the USS warship Intrepid which was decommissioned in 1974. Using around 250,000 pieces of LEGO, he finally accomplished this huge task. The completed model looks absolutely fantastic and I could only dream of building such an amazing creation.

The finished warship model has been valued at a whopping £30,000 ($50,000), making this one expensive LEGO model…

It has been announced that NASA have recently teamed up with the LEGO Group in a brand new partnership. A planned three-year agreement is in place that will use both the space exploration missions of NASA and the building bricks of LEGO to spark interest in children about Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The theme of this partnership is “Building and Exploring our Future”.

Four NASA themed sets are due to be released next year to mark this incredible alliance varying in complexity and engaging their audience of LEGO fans of all ages. LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4The long-awaited video game is now here! After months of waiting, and delayed release dates, the new addition to the LEGO video games series has finally become available!

The game is much similar to the previous LEGO-themed titles, in the way that you collect items, and build things to progress through the game. LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 includes new features, like casting spells, riding broomsticks, and over 100 of your favourite characters from the books which you can unlock throughout the game.

All of your favourite characters, including Harry, Ron and Hermione, are here and all come with their own special abilities. Harry is able to fly a broomstick better than his friends, and Hermione is more capable of making potions, another new feature in the game.

I am currently awaiting the delivery of my copy. I will be sure to post my verdict as soon as it arrives.

Bricks & More: Turn and Match

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Turn and MatchIf you’re looking for an activity to get your brain working, then why not try Turn and Match? This is a memory game in the Bricks & More section of the LEGO website.

The game works like Pairs, in the fact that you have a selection of cards turned upside-down and you have to turn two of those cards over. If they match then those two cards are taken out of the selection. If they do not match, then the cards are turned back to their original state and you have to pick two more cards. The idea is that you should try and remember where the cards were that you chose before to make it easier to match them up.

The game is really very addictive, with an “easy” and “hard” option for your playing preferences.

If you fancy giving it a go, then the Turn and Match game can be found here.
