The Mercedes-Benz Unimog U 400 is the fantastic new set in the LEGO Technic theme. Equipped with a fully operational, pneumatically-powered crane and working winch, all powered by LEGO Power Functions.

The Unimog U 400 features realistic steering control and includes a gear block to conquer any terrain. 4-wheel drive and suspension are also present and correct.

As with many Technic sets, the Unimog U 400 can be rebuilt into a powerful Snow Plough. The set has plenty of features to keep any LEGO fan occupied, and is incredibly fun to build.

Rescue Helicopter

Monday, February 21st, 2011

A new treat is in store for us this year! LEGO have released the brand new Rescue Helicopter set, which features a realistic design and spinning rotor blades.

The helicopter is a fantastic red and white colour, with white detail and grey rotor blades. You can use the control knobs to spin the main and tail rotor blades simultaneously, and even includes retractable landing gear and a fully operational winch!

If you fancy trying something a bit different, you can then rebuild the set into a Medical Helicopter, making this two sets in one!

Technic Motorbike

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

Motorbike (8051)This brilliant red Motorbike is one of the new additions to LEGO Technic.

Once built, this incrediblly detailed model includes spring-loaded front and rear suspension, a kick stand, and racing tyres. The great engine design really adds to the realistic look of the motorbike. As with most Technic sets, there are two models in one, with the second model being a Chopper Bike.

There is one small issue in that the chain tends to slip during play. Although if you want a nice shelf model this won’t be an issue. But it’s one thing to bear in mind where there will be plenty of use.

That issue aside, the actual model of the bike is fantastic and is fun to build. The alternative model also looks as good as the main model, making this set well worth getting your hands on.

LEGO Technic: Tractor with Log Loader

Tractor with Log Loader (8049)Another 2010 Technic release is the 8049: Tractor with Log Loader. This set features a tractor and attached to the back, a trailer with a crane arm to load up the logs.

The Tractor includes a steering feature, and is a wonderful colour contrast of lime green, black and a blue seat on the interior. The ability to steer is a nice feature and adds to the playability.

The trailer includes a red crane arm with two pneumatic-like valves to control it. It is fully articulated to allow for easy movement when loading logs onto the trailer.

This set is 2-1 and can be rebuilt into a Log Handler, for extra building options.

LEGO Technic 8048: Buggy

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

LEGO Technic Buggy (8048)A new addition to Technic this year has been the 8048 Buggy. With its four-wheel working suspension, this dune buggy is able to conquer any terrain.

There are a variety of features to this set, including a rotating steering wheel, which in turn, steers the direction of the tyres. The cab cage is also openable and the V4 engine pistons actually move when the vehicle rolls. The set is also 2-in-1 and can be rebuilt into a tractor.

The set is perfect for a first time builder of Technic sets, but has plenty of features to keep the more experienced builders busy.
