Friday, September 2nd, 2011

A nice portion of the MMO, LEGO Universe has been made free to play!

Unfortunately the full game is only available through subscription (£7.49 per month), but players will be able to get a nice chunk of the action through the Free to Play mode.

In the free version, you will obtain access to two adventure zones, a property area to build your creations on, and there are also mini-games to be played.

To get a piece of the action, you can download the Free to Play version from the LEGO website by clicking here.

LEGO Universe Now in Founder Stage of Testing

Monday, October 18th, 2010

LEGO Universe has now reached the Founder stage of testing, meaning those that pre-ordered the game now have the chance to play early before the official release!

Closed beta-testing has now finished, meaning those who signed up late on sadly won’t get a chance to try it out yet and will have to wait a little longer.

As with most MMORPGs, there will be a subscription fee. This can be found on the LEGO Universe website. Just scroll down to the part that says “How much will LEGO Universe cost?”.

LEGO Universe Front Cover

Well we’re all waiting for it, the release of the new Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG), LEGO Universe!

No it’s not out yet, but now the official date of release is set for 26th October 2010. Whether this date will change, as it has done previously (I assume for technical issues of some kind), I’m not sure, but that’s the date that has been given so far.

Initially the game will be available in English and German and is currently in the Closed BETA stage of testing. Pre-ordering entitles the player to early access to the game from 12th October 2010, a 30-day subscription and a code to allow you to play as an astronaut.

Currently you can pre-order LEGO Universe on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone WarsAs I have mentioned in a previous entry, there will be another new release to the Star Wars series of LEGO video games – LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars!

The video game will share a lot of similar features to the previous titles, the main focus being to collect bricks, and building in order to reach places/complete tasks. You will be able to play as either a Jedi or Separatist with new abilities including Squad Command, Lightsaber Slicing, Lightsaber Jumps, Long-distance Jedi attacks and Grapple Tie-ups. All the characters from the popular TV series will be available, including Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano and Obi-Wan Kenobi, as well as some from the theatrical Star Wars Saga.

LEGO Star Wars: The Clone Wars will include both single player and multiplayer modes, so you can play the game with a friend.

The game will be a multi-platform release, and will be available on PS3, XBOX 360, Wii, Nintendo DS, PSP and Windows PC.

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4The long-awaited video game is now here! After months of waiting, and delayed release dates, the new addition to the LEGO video games series has finally become available!

The game is much similar to the previous LEGO-themed titles, in the way that you collect items, and build things to progress through the game. LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 includes new features, like casting spells, riding broomsticks, and over 100 of your favourite characters from the books which you can unlock throughout the game.

All of your favourite characters, including Harry, Ron and Hermione, are here and all come with their own special abilities. Harry is able to fly a broomstick better than his friends, and Hermione is more capable of making potions, another new feature in the game.

I am currently awaiting the delivery of my copy. I will be sure to post my verdict as soon as it arrives.

LEGO Universe Available for Pre-order

LEGO UniverseThe upcoming MMO, LEGO Universe is now available for pre-order on the LEGO website.

From what I’ve experienced on the BETA test, this game is set to be a hit! With plenty of opportunity for creation, players can build custom items such as pets, rockets and racing cars. The possibilities are endless!

Players can build, quest and socialise with each other, creating an entirely new online world. Using your custom design minifigure, you can help the minifigs defeat the Maelstrom (the dark menace attempting to destroy imagination).

LEGO Universe will require an internet connection and the first 30 days will be free. The game has no official release date as of yet, but should be available later this year.

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 (XBOX 360)The release date for the video game “LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4″ has been delayed. Specific details on the delay are unclear, but I assume there has been a problem in development of some kind. Probably a few bugs that need fixing to ensure that the game is perfectly playable.

The Official Site has now been updated to show that the game is to be released in June 2010. I don’t know any specific dates as of yet, but as soon as I find confirmation of a specific release date, I will let you know.

LEGO Universe – Closed BETA testing

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

LEGO UniverseWhen I opened my inbox and found I had been accepted for the open BETA testing of LEGO Universe, I was very excited indeed! So when the time came round to 17:00 GMT I rapidly signed on with my LEGO ID to give it a go!

The game is looking very nice but takes a powerful graphics card to run it. My laptop just about handles it, but literally only just. The features in the game are amazing, for example the  and graphically it is looking very nice, bearing in mind this is a BETA version.

When you start off, your name only shows up as “minifig” followed by a 10 digit number. This is because it needs to be moderated first to ensure that it is safe for younger players to view.

From playing the closed BETA of LEGO Universe, I can say that this game is looking pretty amazing indeed. But remember, you will need a decent graphics card to run it.

The upcoming video game, LEGO Harry Potter, is now available for pre-order on Amazon in time for the release date 26th March 2010.

This game uses similar gameplay to that of the other LEGO titles (Indiana Jones, Star Wars, and Batman) with a few added features like “Potion Making”. Each character has different abilities too. Ron and Hermione aren’t good broostick riders so when they are riding a broom, it is difficult to control, whereas Harry is a brilliant broomstick rider and can perform tricks and shoot jinxes while he is on a broom. The game also includes over 100 different characters from the books.

There will also be six new sets to be released to coincide with the release of the game. It is thought that five of these will be re-releases and one will be a brand new set.
