Oh no! There’s a street lamp out in a dark corner of Lego City! What shall we do? Quick, send for Boris (yes, that is his name. Well it is now) and his cheerful yellow truck to get on the mend!

As the City line continues to expand, we get this neat update of a theme last seen in 1990. As with all Lego vehicles, the build pattern is fairly familiar, but efforts are being made to add further details and make the build pattern a little different. The cab is a fairly standard build, but sacrifices the usual seat in favour of some uncomfortable looking grey sloping tiles and looses the gearstick that’s appeared on many service vehicles of this nature (Cement Mixer, for example) and has in its place a more sturdy foundation for the back half of the cab – including a neatly placed transparent beam to act as a rear window.

The back of the truck, is of course, the business end of the vehicle, featuring three storage points for tools and two containers for holding replacement ‘bulbs’ and further tools. Along with these, you get two crash barriers topped with lights to warn oncoming motorists that there’s work in progress. Then there’s the nicely worked cherry picker, which has a 45 degree range of motion.

The set would be pretty redundant without a streetlamp to fix, so it comes with one of those too! This is a nice piece of construction, and there’s a nice bit of detail with the addition of a green recycling bin.

Its a fun little set and its good to see that innovative build patterns are still being found for the plethora of vehicles that Lego churn out for the City theme (Must be quite a challenge that) and whilst it probably wont set many pulses racing, its a damn sight more interesting than another emergency service vehicle and has enough play value not to get boring.

I bought this for my 7-year-old boy and he loves it, he assures me Lego is good for the intelligence because you can build so many different things with the same bricks. He made it on his own and had no problem with the instructions and loved playing with it. To him; Lego = Happiness

I want to encourage everyone to buy the Lego town sets – they are fun and really the last realistic playsets that Lego makes. This one is in my collection of “smart” tech sets (this, streetsweeper, small car, recycle truck, windmill truck). This one is a stretch, but, I pretend that the light pole is LED with minimal backscatter (yes, I am that kind of geeky legomaniac).

This LEGO set was my son’s choice. It was his 4th birthday coming up and he knew exactly what he wanted: a Lego man fixing the light from a mobile platform that he saw in a shop. He is very much into all sorts of cars, car makes, asks lots of questions which I can hardly answer:) so he loves this Lego set together with another one that he got on his birthday. Although he is a bit too young to follow the instructions, but when we mixed all parts together with ”My Lego Town” set he loves making all sorts of his imaginary cars, houses, planes, cranes… and spends quite long time nicely playing:) There’re quite a few very small parts so he still comes for help sometimes when he can’t put couple parts together or take them apart, but it’s ok I like helping him with his Lego, it’s fun:)

I bought this set because it was a decent price and it came with a lot of good pieces. This set comes with one worker figure that has a nicely detailed printed head and torso; he also has a red hardhat. This set also comes with a small tan base plate which has a green garbage can and a streetlight on it. The Repair Truck itself is a comparatively easy build and when finished it looks excellent. The Truck is equipped with a single person cab for the worker. The back of the Truck is outfitted with three tool attachments and two cabinets for the worker’s equipment: hammer, screwdriver, wrench, socket wrench, drill, oil container and two extra light bulbs. The back of the truck also has a folding crane which can be positioned in any way you what. This set also comes with two traffic barricades which can be placed on the back of the truck. Well, here are the basics of the set:

    The good things

    Worker figure

    Garbage can

    Streetlight

    Tools

    Two extra light bulbs

    Two traffic barricades

    Truck

    Two cabinets

    Folding crane

    The bad things

    Stickers

Over all, I very highly recommend this set.
