This kit is was more intricate and clever than the price and parts count would indicate. A pair of preassembled springs make up the front fork. Both the front and rear wheels are support on both sides which makes for a more sturdy construction. The front wheel assembly also has a good range of motion from left to right. The alternate chopper build also seems very interesting as it simulates a V-twin engine and dual chain drives.
Compared to the previous Technics motorcycle kit, Lego 8420, this kit shows more refinement. The 8420 kit (with a slightly higher piece count), felt less sturdy and the handle bar range of motion was much more limited.

I just got this bike a couple of weeks back and I must say I am impressed with the whole kit. It added some nice parts to my collection (and some rare ones too). Both the models look great, although I liked the A model better for construction and the B model for style. It is quite a big bike and the new engine design (with extended connecting rods in both models and dual crank in B model) is really unique and interesting. Overall I am highly satisfied with this kit and would recommend this to any Lego Technic fan looking for a nice kit with a price tag that doesn’t burn a hole in your wallet.

My 10-year old daughter and I love this Technics set. It is our favorite so far (although the dune buggy is a close second). It has great detail, is quite challenging to put together and looks cool after it’s done.
Like all the best Technics sets out now, this one has a detailed engine with real moving pistons which is not only fun but educational as well. By putting it together, you can see how real engines work, with pistons, cylinder blocks and camshafts. This bike even has a real working chain that drives the wheels.
This set also has two variations so lots of time for repeat building. We stuck with the chopper because it has great detail like a real one. The other bike is cool too.
The tires are really cool- nice rubbery real feeling tires. This model is much bigger than you might think when you think of Legos.
This set is a great value and makes a wonderful gift. If you’re looking for a high-quality gift for a young person (or adult) interested in motorcycles, this is perfect. It’s a bit tough to build- my very experienced 10-year old builder had to go back a couple steps and rebuild a couple of times. I’ve rarely seen her do that, and she even built the massive Lego Eiffel Tower herself. So quite a challenge, but not frustrating.
Finally, when complete, this set is pretty durable, more so than many complex lego sets. Its just so amazing how they have engineered these detailed Technics sets. The tight tolerances on the pieces amazes me- they really must use a lot of computers and engineering to plan them out.

First I did not want to purchase this set because it was just a bike and small. However, I decided to buy it to add to my Lego sets collection. I did not have a motorbike set in my collection.
After it was assembled, I was surprised by its size. It is not small; about 12″ in length and 6″ in height. It is a great display set. I guess you could play it for 10 minutes.
